When Jeneva Bell was growing up, she had to abide by rules in her home to keep her parent’s stylish items looking “nice.” This childhood frustration was her inspiration behind Ruggable, the washable rug company she founded in Los Angeles with premium styles that still feel livable.

After a chance meeting in 2003, Serena Dugan and Lily Kanter co-founded the coastal home and decor brand in Sausalito, California with a focus on style and sustainability. The founders have moved on to other pursuits, but Serena & Lily is still female-led under CEO Lori Greeley.

In 2009, Jungalow founder Justina Blakeney was blogging about home design from her living room. Now, that blog has grown into an L.A.-based lifestyle brand and source for unique home goods and design inspiration.

After working as an urban farmer in L.A., Jessica White longed for indoor scents that evoked the smells of the great outdoors. So she founded Loam, a small batch, handmade candle company with scents that “honor the magic of a life lived outdoors.”

Shiza Shahid and her partner co-founded L.A.-based brand Our Place in 2019 with the mission of building a bigger, more inclusive table. Their stylish cookware celebrates the beauty and joy of home cooking. 

Founder and Chief Brand Officer Ellen Bennett’s idea for the Hedley & Bennett apron was born out of necessity. Cooking in an L.A. restaurant, her apron couldn’t withstand the pressure, so she created her own that’s functional, durable, and stylish with “pockets for days.” Now, plenty of top chefs and home cooks are in Hedley & Bennett’s “apron squad.”

Clevr, the California-based beverage company crafting latte blends with adaptogens, probiotics, and superfoods, originally started as a pop-up shop. In 2016, co-founders Hannah Mendoza and Roger Coppola traversed the U.S. with their traveling adaptogenic coffee shop. Now, you can experience the benefits of their blends in your own home.

In 2017, as a 23-year-old, CEO Sana Javeri Kadri founded Diaspora Co. in Oakland, California to create a delicious and truly equitable spice trade with farmers on the Indian subcontinent. Diaspora Co. now sources 30 single-origin spices from 150 farms across India and Sri Lanka, and they pay farmers an average of six times above the commodity price, far beyond the fair trade requirement of a 15% premium. 

One of Aishwarya Iyer’s favorite things growing up was gathering around meals, sharing in the food, love, and connection with her family and friends. The desire to share those meaningful moments around food was her inspiration behind Brightland, the California olive oil company she founded in 2018 and leads as CEO.

CEO Jing Gao founded L.A.-based sauce company Fly By Jing in 2018 to share the incredible flavors of her hometown, Chengdu, China, the capital city of Sichuan. She was particularly inspired by Chengdu’s fly restaurants, “soulful hole-in-the-wall eateries so good they attract diners like flies.”

Founded in L.A. in 1989 by Edward and Judy Kwon, Calpak remains a family-run business through their children, Roy and Jennifer Kwon, with Jennifer serving as President of the durable and chic luggage brand. We can’t travel anywhere without their adorable packing cubes.

In 2018, actress Shay Mitchell launched her El Segundo, California-based travel brand Béis with the mission of crafting bags and accessories “that wouldn’t break the bank.” Their functional, quality products never sacrifice style.

Inspired by the craftsmanship she witnessed growing up in Ecuador, CEO Karla Gallardo co-founded fashion brand Cuyana with Shilpa Shah in 2018. Their timeless essentials for the modern wardrobe are made with integrity and promise longevity. Their products are also eco-friendly, made with sustainable materials and a “fewer, better” mindset.

Vizan Giri co-founded California-based Terra Thread with her father, Vik, in 2017 to create eco-friendly bags and backpacks. Most backpacks on the market are made of synthetic fabrics, but the adorable designs from Terra Thread are made with 100% organic cotton, sustainably sourced from farmers in India.
